Spun-melt (SMS)

The combination of spunbond and melt blown fabrics yields strong, economical barrier fabrics, which are effective in a variety of applications as liquid and particle barriers.

FQN lines are equipped with 2 melt blown web formers to produce a 2-layered melt blown fabric. The multiplicity of melt blown web layers results in the presence of a uniform fine fibers structure between strong spunbond layers. The FQN melt blown fibers, averaging 2 microns in diameter, provide the micro porous barrier structure. FQN can make the melt blown layers with PP or with bicomponent PP/PE fibers for added softness.

FQN produces SMMS and SSMMS fabrics of weights from 11 gsm to 70 gsm. Barrier properties like hydrostatic head (HSH) range from 100 mm to 450 mm depending on weight and melt blown content. Fabric widths up to 4.2 meters are possible.
